A few days ago Naughty dog posted ten new vacancies on LinkedIn. It looks nothing unusual: the studio is constantly expanding the staff of specialists, however one ad stands out among others.
Development team The Last of Us: Part II for some reason, it took a person to the position of a graphics programmer, the requirements of which stipulate the presence of experience with DirectX 12, Vulkan or other APIs, as well as a thorough understanding of the architecture of modern GPUs AMD and Nvidia. But if AMD’s mention can still be understood (PS4, like the future PS5, is built on red hardware), then everything else is not associated with the Sony platform in any way: the console does not support the Vulkan API and especially DirectX 12, and NVIDIA developments in the console sector currently only used by Nintendo for Switch. Another requirement for the applicant is the ability to program both under the console and PC.
This is not to say that The Last of Us: Part II will come out with a 100% certainty on a PC, but how does a specialist with knowledge of NVIDIA graphics architectures relate to a console based on AMD hardware platform? Other vacancies do not contain anything like that. All were published two days ago – Coincidentally, after Kotaku’s material about Horizon: Zero Dawn coming out on PC.
Officially, The Last of Us: Part II is currently considered the exclusive PlayStation 4. The game will be released May 29th.
