Publishing house Ubisoft again restarted the development of a long-suffering open-world pirate game Skull & bones, which was born on the basis of the regime of naval battles from Assassin’s creed. This is reported by portal sources Vgc.
Studio is responsible for the project. Ubisoft Singapore, and the announcement took place in 2017. The game was also shown on E3 in 2018, after which the developers went into radio silence mode. The VGC portal has shared additional details about the problematic development. On condition of anonymity, Ubisoft employees said that they had problems knocking out a place in the sun in the publishing house’s line of projects, which was full of games in the open world. As a result, in 2019, the development of Skull & Bones was restarted again. The new concept is to abandon the traditional premium release model and focus on interaction between players. Not everyone took the revision of the basics calmly. So, Ubisoft left the creative director of Skull & Bone Justin Farrenwhich now works in Wargaming. His place was taken by a veteran of the publishing house Elizabeth Pellenwho wrote the script for the shooter XIII and acting as lead level designer in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow.
In recent years, Pellen has also been a member of the drafting team overseeing all Ubisoft projects. It is this structure that is responsible for the fact that most of the games of the French company have an open world, online elements and a plot inspired by real events, but avoiding political statements.
Note that Ubisoft previously also wanted to release a series based on Skull & Bones, focused on female characters.
