“True Lies” Returns: CBS Takes a Pilot of the Show Based on the Cult Action Comedy

In 1994, director James Cameron released the spy comedy action movie “True lie” from Arnold Schawrzenegger in the lead role, which has been trying to adapt for several years to a multi-part format. Today, the series based on the cult film has become one step closer to reality.

According to the portal Deadline, the American TV channel Cbs ordered production of a pilot episode of True Lies… The script for the probe will be written by the author of “Black Label” Matt Nix, and it will be staged by McGknown for “Charlie’s Angels” and “Terminator: May the Savior Come”. Cameron himself will act as the executive producer of the project.

The pilot will have the same concept as the film: shocked by the truth that her humble husband, who works as a computer consultant, is in fact a professional international spy, the inexperienced housewife from the suburbs plunges into a life full of danger and adventure. As they try to rebuild their shaky marriage, they are hired together to save the world.

Who will play the main roles in the series is still unknown. In the original “True Lies”, in addition to Schwarzenegger, they starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere and Art Malik… The film became a worldwide box office hit, grossing $ 378 million on a $ 115 million budget, and earning Curtis the top award for “Golden Globe“.
