They forgot about the clouds: Makoto Shinkai shared a funny fact about the creation of his latest anime “Weather Child”

Last Wednesday, the animated film “Child of the Weather“director Makoto Shinkai released in Japan on physical media – Blu-ray and DVD versions are now available for purchase. For this occasion famous director decided to tell fans some fun facts about the picture through a series of posts on his personal blog.

So, perhaps the most interesting revelation was the difference in one of the climax scenes, the events of which occur high in the clouds. Only in the cinema version of these same clouds on the screen for some reason there wasn’t. For the home release, the problem was fixed and the episode began to play with completely new colors.

But the question remains – how could such an important detail be missed? Here is the director Makoto Shinkai admits – he just forgot to add the necessary effect to the mentioned scene.

“Almost all the changes for the DVD / BD release are very minor and you can hardly notice them yourself. But in this scene the difference is obvious. The top is the theater version, the bottom is the home release. When I realized that I simply forgot to add a background with clouds, my blood froze in my veins. But, on the other hand, you can learn from mistakes. Ha ha ha, “Makoto Shinkai wrote on his personal blog.

Premiere “Child of the Weather“held in Japan in the summer, a year has passed. In the home market, the tape became the 7th largest film in the history of local film distribution and showed the most impressive fees for 2019. In total, at home, the picture earned over $ 129 million.

The film was also shown on Russian screens in the fall of the year. The world digital anime release is due in late summer, August 4.

Plot “Child of the Weather“talks about a young man Hodake Morishimawho moves to Tokyo and settles in a small publishing house, where he writes about various supernatural events. The familiar life of Morishima is saddened by one small fact – it rains on the street almost all the time. But at some point, a high school student meets an unusual girl – Hinu Amano, which, as it turns out, is subject to incredible power – it can literally disperse rain clouds.
