Famous insider Tyler McVickerspecializing in leaks about the company’s work Valve and digital store Steam, posted a new podcast on his YouTube channel, in which he answered various questions from subscribers. Specifically when discussing a shooter DOOM Eternal from id Software, he stated that the studios Bethesda “suffer losses” after a deal with Microsoft… We’re talking about layoffs.
As McVeeker explained, becoming the owner of Bethesda, Microsoft very quickly began to establish its own laws and procedures in its ranks, which did not like many old employees, and they began to quit. In particular, commands such as Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, MachineGames and Arkane Studios…
The insider added that personally such news is disappointing for him, but he treats the actions of Bethesda veterans with understanding.
Soon, well-known Xbox informers began to comment on McVeeker’s statements.… For example, an insider questioned the veracity of his words. Idle sloth…
“Wait … It turns out that Microsoft, which is trying not to interfere with the work of its studios, has changed the internal culture of Bethesda so much in three months that people began to leave en masse? The same Microsoft that left Bethesda on its own and allowed it to exist separately from the Xbox Game Studios? Lol … “, he wrote.
In response to accusations by users of lying and wanting to attract attention, McVeeker corrected his words a little, explaining on Twitter that across Bethesda, the percentage of layoffs due to Microsoft policy is not large, but he will be interested to see where this all leads.… In a response to Idle Sloth, he also added that these layoffs should not affect the quality of products, and in the case of Bethesda Game Studioswhose last game at the moment is Fallout 76, additional control will not hurt.
Shortly thereafter, Twitter correspondence commented one of the Bethesda contractors, Blitz187, assured that there are no mass layoffs in the company’s studios… As elsewhere in the industry, there is a certain turnover, but nothing out of the ordinary.
“I’ve been with Bethesda for a little over two years. People come and go all the time. Several people have retired, but there are no mass layoffs.”
When asked if he is aware of those who left Bethesda in connection with the deal with Microsoft, Blitz187 replied in the negative. He said that among his colleagues there are people at the age of ~ 45 years, for whom over the years it is more and more difficult to work in the same rhythm, and there comes a time when they want changes in their lives.
“It’s just life. Hundreds of people in the world quit every day.”
McVeeker later removed speculation about the layoffs at Bethesda from his Twitter page and asked to treat his information about what was happening in the company, voiced in the podcast, with skepticism – not to take it at face value.… Half an hour later, the insider apologized to users.…
“The rumor turned out to be inaccurate. My apologies,” he wrote.
