The Division 3 will wait: Ubisoft will continue to support the sequel, development of a Star Wars game has just begun

Last month Ubisoft announced that her Swedish studio Massive Entertainment will make a new game Star Wars… The project will be built on the internal Snowdrop engine and will offer an open world, but other details have not been disclosed beyond that.

And now it’s clear why. As part of a conference call with investors and analysts at the end of the quarter, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot reported that the project is at an early stage of development… That being said, he dodged an answer when asked if the company would have to wait until EA’s exclusive franchise rights expire in 2023 to release its game.

“We haven’t mentioned any specific dates. The game is in early stages of development, so we’ll have to wait a bit before we can tell you more about the timing.”

In any case, judging by the current state of the project and the time it usually takes to create an AAA title, 2023 is seen as the earliest date when Massive’s Star Wars release can be expected.

In addition to Star Wars, Massive is currently busy creating a new game based on “Avatar“expected to be released between April 2023 and March 2023… Also in the next two years, the studio will continue to work on content for The division 2, so the third part is probably not coming soon.
