Company Gaijin entertainment announced that in the coming weeks in a military online action War thunder starts the third season of the regime “World War“, in which commanders control entire armies on a strategic map, and rank-and-file fighters play their clashes in session battles.
Now in the reconstruction of battles will be used the technique of the second half of the last century – up to tanks T-80 and Leopard 2helicopters Mi-24 and Bo 105fighter MiG-21 and F-104. With its help, a hypothetical scenario of one of the main battles of the Third World War and the famous tank battle of the Doomsday War will be played out.
During the Cold War, NATO military miscalculated various scenarios for the start of World War III. They agreed that no matter who and where the conflict starts, the main blow of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany will be delivered through the so-called “Fulda corridor“- a wide stretch of lowland between mountains in the federal state of Hesse in Germany.
This area is great for operating a powerful tank group, on which the Soviet Union made the main bet in a possible war. In War Thunder, Soviet troops will try to capture Frankfurt, and the FRG army will defend it.
The Doomsday War began on October 6, 1973 with an attack by a coalition of Arab states on Israel. On October 17, during a counterattack, Israeli forces crossed the Suez Canal and secured themselves on its western shore. The Egyptian command launched a counterattack in the area of the agricultural farm, which the Israelis marked on their maps as the “Chinese farm.”
The battle for it became the most massive tank battle since the Second World War. In War Thunder, players will be able to play either for the Arab armies armed with Soviet technology, or for Israel, using American and French combat vehicles.
