Bloomberg editor today Jason Schreier posted a material about obsession Sony blockbuster games. From the article, in particular, it became known that:
- The internal studio support of the Visual Arts Service Group began to remake The Last of Us, but the project was eventually transferred to the budget of Naughty Dog, which was given more freedom and put in charge of development. The VASG management remained disappointed with this and almost completely left, and the studio itself was again transferred to the support team.
- After the release of Days Gone, Sony Bend started pitching the sequel, but the game was not given the green light. The first part, although it turned out to be financially successful, had a problematic development and received mixed reviews.
- Instead, the Sony Bend was split into two teams. One was dropped to help Naughty Dog with its multiplayer project, and the other was assigned to work on the new part of Uncharted under the supervision of Naughty Dog. Fearing a takeover, Sony Bend asked to be removed from the Uncharted project. Sony satisfied the studio’s demand last month and they are now working on another game.
Edition Eurogamer supplemented Schreier’s information. According to a knowledgeable source, Uncharted from Sony bend was supposed to be a new chapter for the series, partially detached from the past parts of Naughty Dog… The project, according to one of the ideas, was a prequel and was conceived as a kind of restart of the franchise, but the further fate of the game after the departure of Sony Bend remains unknown.
