German edition Cerealkillerz published a preview of the horror The Dark Pictures: Little Hopein which he spoke in detail about the upcoming game. Pete samuels, general manager Supermassive games and project manager Dark pictures anthology, tried to explain what players should expect from a new project of authors Until dawn.
The first part of the anthology called Man of Medan was released last summer, and the sequel will be born a year later – in the summer of 2023. Thus, the developers adhere to the original idea – to release horror every year. What is the difference between Little Hope and its predecessor and what the new game will be about, read below.
What is the game about
- The action will take place in the village of Andover during the Salem Witch Hunt;
- the main character is Andrew, whose role will be played by actor Will Poulter;
- the company will make him the stars of British cinema and television Louise Atkins, Martin Walsh, Adam Jowett;
- events unfold in different time periods: modern (1970) and during the trial in New England (1692);
- Little Hope flirts again with human fears, paranoia and suspense, offering to commit a lot of cruel acts that could cause a character to die (unless, of course, you make the wrong decision);
- the authors were inspired by films like The Blair Witch, The Witch, and HellRaisers. Silent Hill also had a greater impact on the project.
What is the difference
In addition to the new cast, setting and source of inspiration, Little Hope was created according to other templates, offering players fresh elements in the gameplay. The developers listened carefully to the criticism of the community and tried to fix the main shortcomings of Man of Medan, during which many improvements were made:
- transitions between videos and decisions made now look much smoother;
- The interface has been redesigned in order to make it more understandable for the player;
- detectable items that you can interact with are now marked much better;
- QTE (Quick Time Events) Quick Time Events received warning badges so that players can prepare for them;
- the game implements smoother transitions between the character display and the camera, which is now not always fixed at any point;
- the speed of the characters has been increased, it can be adjusted in the settings.
History
- The heroes of the game look exactly like people from the past, Little Hope offers to shed light on a story hiding a large number of secrets and mysteries;
- the storyline uses multiple clichés: a little girl obsessed with something scary and wooden figures found on the side of the road suspiciously similar to those from The Blair Witches;
- complete passage of Little Hope will take about 4-5 hours, but due to the variability of the total game time is much higher.
The Dark Pictures: Little Hope will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in the summer of 2023.
