Developers Rocket league announced the imminent transition of “football on wheels” to a shareware distribution model. This will happen before the end of summer, along with the largest project update in 5 years.
Any player who has launched an arcade game prior to upgrading will receive:
- all game-branded DLCs (apparently not licensed like Batman’s car)
- title with the year of the first launch of the game
- more than 200 ordinary things will receive the status of “Legacy”
- three cosmetic items.
In addition, all players who launched Rocket League prior to today’s announcement will receive another bonus item when the F2P version of the arcade launches.
One bad news: after changing the distribution model, the game will disappear from the store Steam… The owners of the project in the service will still be able to launch it without problems, however, new players will not be able to download it. From now on, the project will become an Epic Games Store exclusive.
Rocket League is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
