Going on sale tomorrow Psychonauts 2… The sequel to the cult action platformer Double Fine received high marks and, as it turned out, was perfectly optimized, despite the release of seven console versions of the game at once.
The ElAnalistaDeBits channel tested the new product on all platforms and shared the results in a video.
Mode options:
- Xbox One: 1080p / 30 FPS
- Xbox One X: 2160p / 30 FPS
- Xbox Series S: 1620p / 60 FPS or 1080p / 120 FPS
- Xbox Series X: 2160p / 60 FPS or 1440p / 120 FPS
- PlayStation 4: 1080p / 30 FPS
- PlayStation 4 Pro: 1440p / 30 FPS
- PlayStation 5: 1440p / 60 FPS
Performance and graphics:
- Resolution results in the tested areas gave the same numbers as voiced by Double Fine, but the author does not rule out the use of dynamic scaling;
- On PlayStation 5, the game is backward compatible with the PS4 Pro version, but with an unlocked 60 FPS frame rate;
- Variable refresh rate (VRR) is available only on Xbox Series S / X and PC, and high dynamic range (HDR) is available only on Xbox Series S / X;
- Load times are best optimized on both Xbox generations;
- The graphical settings are very similar across all platforms. The PC version is distinguished by better quality anisotropic filtering and rendering distance in the surrounding occlusion and some shadows;
- All versions keep a stable frame rate within the specified values, but on PS4 / PS4 Pro there are freezes when changing zones. Also, during cutscenes in all versions for older consoles, there is a slight drop in FPS.
