As analyst Daniel Ahmad writes on Twitter, the console itself was pre-approved for sale in the country back in December, and final preparations are underway for the launch, including the corresponding approval for the software.
Original Playstation 4 was released in China in March 2015, so the PS5 should be in the country faster than its predecessor. Currently, local players can only buy PlayStation 5 on the gray market through importers from overseas markets such as Japan and the US… These versions of the console do not have a regional lock, however the official PS5 for China will most likely be sold with linked online services.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world, where the PlayStation 5 has already launched, continues to face an acute shortage of console supplies. According to a recent comment from Sony, the company is currently unable to meet the current demand due to a shortage of semiconductors and other components for PS5 production.
