One of the most successful MMORPGs in the history of the Japanese market, Phantasy Star Online 2 from company Sega, eight years after the initial premiere, will reach the western players. The official start of the English version should take place in the spring of 2023, but before that, the developers will conduct two stages of testing – closed and open. Console users are invited to them. Xbox one.
As the press service of Microsoft said today, the closed beta will last only a day, February 7-8, 2023, but it is expected to be very saturated. In order to get a chance to participate, you must register in the program Xbox insider.
At the moment, it is not known whether the closed beta will be held later on the PC. Console users will be able to preload the client starting February 3.
When the open testing starts, you won’t have to re-upload the game file – it will be enough just to update it. All progress from the closed beta will be carried over to the next stages.
Microsoft has become Sega’s partner in the English-language release of Phantasy Star Online, which was announced at E3 2019, so at the moment the game is announced only for Xbox One and PC. Whether it will be released in the future on other devices (in Japan, the project is presented on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch) is not known.
It is also worth noting that at the moment only the North American launch of the MMO is being prepared, therefore, to participate in the testing, all interested parties will need accounts in the corresponding region.
Phantasy Star Online fans have been asking Sega for many years to release Phantasy Star Online 2 in Western markets, where the first installment debuted at one time the console Dreamcast, has become a cult classic.
