improvements for PS5 and Xbox Series X, crossplay and cross-progress – review

In an interview Windows central production manager Rainbow six siege Leroy Atanassoff said that the developers are getting ready to launch the next generation of consoles.

Now the team expects to launch a non-x-ray version of the tactical shooter on the very output of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This is not about simple support through backward compatibility, but about improved versions of the project.

According to Atanassoff, the full release of Siege on new consoles is one of the team’s top priorities for the fifth year of support.

At the same time, players on the PlayStation 5 will definitely be able to play with their friends on the PlayStation 4, while the owners of the Xbox Series X – with users of the Xbox One. However, Ubisoft intends to implement cross-play between two competing consoles.

But the general online with the PC, most likely, will not. For some reason, Ubisoft is not interested in implementing the selection of players by the input method (a gamepad or keyboard and mouse, regardless of platform), as, for example, is done in Fortnite and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Finally, Atanassoff said that the team wants to make general progress between all systems, as it is implemented in the same Modern Warfare, when you can play on different platforms, instantly transferring everything accumulated between devices.

At night, Ubisoft unveiled a two-year plan to support the Rainbow Six Siege, announcing a move to a new content distribution model that will allow for more ambitious and fundamental changes to the meta.
