Phil Spencer: The Killer Instinct series is not abandoned, a new part is possible in the future

Leader Xbox Phil Spencer expressed a desire to return to the series Killer instinct

For some time now, there have been several rumors that Microsoft wants to create a new part of the fighting game, and during the recent Dropped Frames podcast, the head of the gaming division of the company stated that the franchise was not forgotten or abandoned. On the contrary, he and Microsoft Studios head Matt Bootie discuss the series’ future quite often.

“There are quite a few good games in our catalog that we would like to return to. Reaction to the launch of the reboot [Killer Instinct] along with the Xbox One was amazing.

I’ll just say that Matt and I [Бути] discussed many times [Killer Instinct] and where you would like to move next. Perhaps our heads are filled with others now, but with our hearts and souls we want to continue to do something new with KI. “

Confirming recent rumors, Spencer revealed that to continue with Killer Instinct, you need to find the right opportunity and bring in the right development team

“We’re not doing KI anymore, not because of any lack of desire on our part. We love the franchise and the community’s reaction to it.”

The reboot of Killer Instinct for Xbox One was originally worked on by Double Helix Games, now part of Amazon Game Studios, but after release, support for the game was handed over to the Iron Galaxy team, which was also responsible for the PC port release. In a recent interview, the studio announced that it is ready to take on the new part, if given the opportunity.
