Passion for the pope: Diablo II creator accused Blizzard of censoring the remaster and “toothlessness”

At the beginning of the year, the studio Blizzard officially announced the remaster of the cult game Diablo ii… But even before the planned release in 2023, some players had unpleasant questions for the developers.

IN Diablo ii resurrected some characters have undergone major redesigns. Especially got Amazon, whose outfits became less revealing (they tried to cover her ass with clothes), and her face became more masculine.

The discussion about the sexualization of characters flared up with renewed vigor with the start of the alpha test. An ex-employee decided to intervene in it Blizzard Mark Kern (Grummz), who produced the original Diablo II.

He accused the developers of the remaster of censorship. The original game was conceived as an adult work in the aesthetics of dark fantasy, in which all the characters looked more sexy, and the ball was ruled by gothic and extreme cruelty.

Costume Amazon the old Blizzard always planned to be very frank. Moreover, the team had to defend their creative decision, because even then there were people in the studio who offered to change the character.

Kern does not understand why the developers of Diablo II Resurrected are now trying to iron out the corners by making the project more “safe”. This is about dark fantasy, for adult players, not for children. As a result, the original vision of the creators of the project suffered.

According to Mark Kern, the toothlessness of the new Blizzard opens up new perspectives for independent teams who are ready to make dark fantasy games. Large publishers are no longer capable of this.

“Stop buying endless AAA remakes. Take a look at indie,” he tweeted.
