OPPO foldable smartphones patents found with unusual block design

OPPO has not yet released a foldable smartphone, but has long patented the design of such devices. Until now, almost all of them were standard, and they didn’t have much to brag about. But now the company has filed four different patents demonstrating smartphones that can be folded multiple times, with a unique block structure.

These four patents have been filed Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corp Ltd. in Japan Patent Office (JPO) May 11, 2023. But they were approved and published on November 2, 2023.

Patent No. 1

This patent details a six-block, two-hinge design. The phone folds inward and the dual cameras with LED flash are located at the bottom front. There is nothing on the back of the phone. With two hinges, the phone can be folded in full or in half.

Patent No. 2

This design patent also features two hinges and six blocks. However, the triple camera with LED flash is located on the back of the phone, not the front. In addition, it is the only structure of four that folds both inward and outward (including simultaneously).

Patent No. 3

Unlike the first two patents, this patent has only eight blocks, but there are also two loops. Interestingly, the cameras are not visible. They may be located under the display.

Patent No. 4

The last patent is similar to the previous one, but with two differences. It also has two hinges and eight blocks, but it folds inward and also features a triple camera on the back accompanied by an LED flash.
