OPPO Enco W11 Inexpensive TWS Earbuds Review

Wireless headphones are gaining more and more popularity every day, and thanks to new technologies, their sound quality is sometimes at the level of wired solutions. The choice on the market now is huge – there are both completely devoid of wires with elegant charging cases, and connected by rims and wires to each other. In this article we will talk about a product from the first segment, that is, about TWS– headphones. Editorial staff GameMAG.ru recently received in-ear test TWS-headphones Enco W11 from the brand OPPO… We managed to spend some time behind them, and today we are ready to deliver a verdict.

Unpacking and packaging

We have received a sample for retail sale. The official cost of OPPO Enco W11 in Russia is 3990 rubles. The earbuds are shipped in a heavy white cardboard box. The kit includes a charging case, a 10 cm USB-C to USB-A cable for charging, a set of additional silicone ear pads, instructions and a warranty in ten languages, including Russian.

Design and ergonomics

The design is fairly standard for in-ear TWS solutions and does not stand out in general. The outer part of the headphones is made of glossy plastic, and the inner part is matte. There are no complaints about the assembly, the joints are made with high quality. But dirt on white plastic appears very quickly, although it is easy to remove.

You shouldn’t worry about getting water and dust on the headphones, since they are protected according to the IP55 standard, but you definitely shouldn’t wash them under the tap, but wipe them with a damp cloth is quite possible. On the outside there is a touchscreen control panel and a microphone cutout, while on the inside there is an engraving indicating the right and left earbuds, as well as charging contacts. Enco W11 are made in an oval shape – when lying down they resemble snails.

In turn, the charging case is somewhat similar to the egg from “Kinder Surprise”, only slightly flattened and white.

There are no fingerprints on the glossy plastic, but micro-scratches will appear there sooner or later, but you will most likely be able to notice them only at a certain angle in the light. On the back is a USB-C charging connector. The lid mount is strong enough and doesn’t feel flimsy. Just below the notch there is a small LED that glows green, yellow, or red. The lid is magnetic, and the sound when closing the case is loud, but does not cause irritation. The charging compartments magnetize the earbuds when you place them in the case. Case weight – 35 grams without headphones and 44 with them.

The ear cushions are made of matte white silicone and come in three sizes: small, medium and large. The middle plugs are installed out of the box. The quality of the silicone is average.

The headphones fit well in the ears, their weight – only 4.4 grams – is practically not felt. However, standard (medium) ear pads are not for everyone. The author of these lines had to install a complete version of a large size so that the headphones would not fall out of the ears after a few minutes from any sudden movements. You should immediately try everything in order to understand which ones are right for you. Thanks to this, Enco W11 will not only sit comfortably and have normal sound insulation, but at any inopportune moment they will not fall out and fall where they silently wave a handle to you. Although TWS headphones have no hands … Sorry, I took the wrong pills today.

Connection and management

Headphones are connected via the Bluetooth 5.0 wireless interface. Pairing takes place without any complicated steps and very quickly. You just need to open the case, and if the headphones are not yet paired with any device, they will immediately automatically go into pairing mode. You just need to go to the Bluetooth settings on your device and perform pairing by selecting OPPO Enco W11 from the list. If you are using an OPPO phone, there is a quick connect function that will allow you to instantly pair the Enco W11 by simply holding them to your smartphone.

Touchpads on the outside let you control your music, calls, and even your voice assistant. With a single press on both the left and right earphones, you can play music and pause it, and with a double press, you can accept an incoming call and end the conversation. Also, when playing music by double-clicking on the right earphone, you can turn on the next track, and on the left – the previous one.

Holding your finger on the right earbud increases the volume level, and on the left earpiece decreases it. A triple tap on any of the headphones calls up the voice assistant on the connected phone. In general, this control system fully provides all the necessary commands.

Sound, signal quality and microphone

We finally get to the main question. How do they sound? The frequency range of 20 – 20,000 Hz corresponds to the range of the human ear, and of the codecs, SBC and AAC are supported, which provide a signal with a bit rate of up to 320 kbps. It is believed that the larger the speaker of TWS headphones, the better the sound quality. In fact, this is not so, some brands just like to focus on this. However, this model has 8 mm dynamic drivers installed, but the materials from which they are made are more important. The speaker diaphragm is made of a titanium-based composite material. According to OPPO, this should enhance the sound quality of both high and low frequencies. In practice, the bass is sluggish – it lacks depth and power. With a strong landing, the bottom pulls the blanket over themselves, sounding more powerful, but thus overlapping other frequencies. Bass problems show up on tracks with a dynamic scene, where the lows seem to be out of step with the melody. In general, there were no complaints about high and medium ones, but they do not cause any particular enthusiasm. Most of all I was pleased with the volume level, since here it is even in abundance.

As for the quality of the connection, everything was always perfect without obstacles on the way to the signal source. But one had only to go beyond any blank wall and the connection disappeared, even if you were 2-3 meters from the source. With Bluetooth 5.0 support, each earbud connects directly to a signal source and can be used separately as a headset.

There are only two microphones, one per earpiece. The manufacturer claims that the Enco W11 has active noise cancellation, but in practice, not everything is so rosy. When you turn on media content on the same TV, the interlocutor perfectly heard everything that sounded from the speakers, and the speaker’s voice in the headphones was heard worse than the surrounding sound.

In the absence of loud noises, all the interlocutors on the other end complained of a slight echo when calling.

Battery

To praise the Enco W11 stands for good autonomy, although not a record one. Inside each earphone there are 40 mAh lithium-ion batteries, which at high volume give about 4 hours of work out of the declared five without recharging from the case. If you turn down the volume to 40-50%, then they will last 5 hours.

When charging from the case, you can increase the time to 18-20 hours, but you will have to wait about 2 hours for the headphones to charge in the case. They charge the same amount along with the case via the wire.

Outcome

OPPO Enco W11 is primarily inexpensive and well-assembled headphones. They have an excellent reserve of autonomy and volume, convenient control and can produce good sound with proper equalizer settings and the right choice of ear pads. Unfortunately, you can’t recommend them as a headset, since the noise cancellation system does not work here, and a small echo will strain the interlocutors at the other end.
