Not Unreal Engine: New Fable for Xbox Series X / S Is Built On Its Own Engine

New part of the role-playing series Fable, announced last July for the Xbox Series X / S and PC, appears to be built on a proprietary engine rather than using third-party commercial toolkits like Unreal Engine

Users have noticed information about this in the studio’s fresh vacancies. One of the listings for the position of render engineer mentions that Playground looking for a certified programmer, who has a good opportunity to join a well-established and highly skilled AAA-team, “working with a custom engine”… Interest in games and the creation of high-quality graphics is also mentioned among the requirements for the applicant.

It is currently unknown if we are talking about a modified version ForzaTech, on which the Forza games are built, or it will be a completely new engine for Fable, made from scratch.

The new Fable is created as a relaunch of the series. No release date yet.
