Not everything is ready for the release of Halo Infinite: Split-screen for PC, co-op and “Forge” postponed

Microsoft and studio 343 Industries published a new update on the progress of the development of the shooter Halo: Infinite

  • The developers have stated that they do not yet have an official public release date, but they “100% intend” to release the game for the Christmas holidays, as previously planned. The studio is currently working on some of the remaining details and will announce an exact release date “very soon”.
  • Halo: Infinite kicks off with a singleplayer campaign and the first season of F2P multiplayer. Authors are now focused on completing development and strive to achieve the highest quality launch experience possible. As a result, the 343i had to prioritize and delay some features.
  • Halo: Infinite will not have a co-op campaign or Forge at launch. The developers analyzed the modes and considered that both currently do not meet the established quality bar, and the studio is not ready to launch them in their current form.
  • Co-op and Forge will appear in the shooter after release as part of the update roadmap. According to the plan, these are the second and third seasons, respectively. Each season will last for three months.
  • There will also be no split screen for PC on release for Halo: Infinite. Console versions will get it right away.
  • 343 Industries is planning another major technical testing prior to launch. The next “flight” will include full-fledged PvP matches in 4v4 and Big Team Battle modes.

Halo: Infinite is coming to Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC. 24 August Microsoft will hold a presentation within Gamescom 2023where they can share news about the shooter.
