Company Nvidia reported that since April 24, users of the streaming service GeForce Now will no longer be able to run computer games production Microsoft, Warner bros, Codemasters and Klei entertainment. The reasons are not called, but, apparently, the publishers are not satisfied with the working conditions of the site.
The GeForce Now is essentially a remote virtual computer, for access to which NVIDIA takes money from players. At the same time, they can run games purchased on Steam on GeForce Now.
NVIDIA believes that the service can increase sales of games on Steam, as it opens up access to gaming to users who do not have a powerful PC at home. Publishers, apparently, want to receive additional royalties for the possibility of streaming Steam-versions on GeForce Now, since gamers who have previously bought a game on Steam without the help of NVIDIA also use the service. The latter can have a powerful computer, and run the service, for example, away from home.
Earlier, The Long Dark developer Rafael Van Lirop said that NVIDIA added his game to the list of supported GeForce Now without permission. This aroused his indignation, and he demanded to immediately ban the streaming of his hit.
“NVIDIA sells access to the library of content purchased by users on Steam. We have a choice: to be in this library on GeForce Now or not. On Steam, we formed a distribution agreement with Valve, not with NVIDIA,” Lirop said.
Major manufacturers such as Activision Blizzard, 2K Games and Bethesda have given up on GeForce Now in recent months.. With the departure from the Microsoft platform, Warner Bros., Codemasters and Klei Entertainment users will lose access to hundreds more games, including the series Halo, Mortal kombat and Batman.
Among those supporting GeForce Now are Ubisoft, Epic Games, and CD Projekt.
NVIDIA, however, continues to remain optimistic and speaks of plans to expand the GeForce Now library to 1,500 games in the future. She also asks developers from among her partners to indicate in the description of the games the possibility of streaming through GeForce Now, if provided.
