Company Nintendo announced the purchase of a Canadian studio Next Level Games, best known in recent years for the successful resurrection of the series Luigi’s Mansion and release Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Luigi’s Mansion 3… The corresponding entry appeared on the official website of the platform holder. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. The agreement will enter into force on March 1.
Nintendo began partnering with Next Level Games in the early 2000s. In 2005, the studio released Super mario strikers for Gamecube, after which she was instructed to develop Super mario strikers charged and fighting game Punch-Out !! for Wii… In parallel, the team worked with other publishers to create various low-budget, multi-platform licensed games like Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and Captain America: Super Soldier.
After the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2, which received high ratings in the press and was sold in large circulation to Nintendo 3DS, relations between Nintendo and Canadians have strengthened. The studio soon announced that it would now work exclusively with Nintendo, which provided Next Level Games with stability and eliminated the need to walk through publishers from project to project.
Based on today’s message from Nintendo, the decision to buy the studio after all these years was made due to the fact that some of the shareholders of Next Level Games wanted to sell their securities. Since Nintendo and the developers have long worked together, the Japanese company agreed to take over.
