Nikkei: Nintendo Increases Switch Production Due To New Console Model With “Better Graphics”

Authoritative Japanese edition Nikkei announced plans Nintendo increase this fiscal year (from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023) issue Switch up to about 30 million units, which should be a record in the history of the console. In comparison, 24 million STBs were shipped in the first nine months of the previous fiscal year.

According to the Nikkei, Nintendo has already approached several vendors to speed up production of Switch components. According to the publication, this strategy should help the company counter a number of new competing proposals that have appeared over the past year (Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5). and may also be associated with the release of the next “graphics-enhanced” console model known by the unofficial name Switch pro

“People with direct knowledge of the matter have confirmed plans to expand production. In addition, Nintendo will release the next Switch model with improved graphics. This will be the first such offer since the release of Nintendo Switch Lite in 2019.”

According to the latest rumors, the new Switch will get an updated NVIDIA chip with a more powerful processor module and an improved graphics subsystem that supports 4K and DLSS. Also, the console should get more memory and a larger 7-inch OLED display, and some future games may not appear on older console models.
