As part of the event DirectX Innovation Day corporation Microsoft has announced a new version of the DirectX 12 Ultimate GUI. This standard should bring improvements to the graphics on the PC and console, and do it earlier than others.
The API does not contain any revolutionary technologies. It simply integrates separately existing standards under one roof. The list contains:
- DirectX Raytracing (updated to version 1.1) – responsible for ray tracing, realistic shadows and reflections
- Variable Rate Shading – splits the display space for rendering with different details
- Mesh Shader – provides control of application interaction with GPU
- Sampler Feedback – allows you to reuse already calculated textures, and also loads them faster.
Cards Nvidia previously used these technologies, albeit individually. But now the graphics will receive them. AMDalthough only future. DirectX 12 Ultimate will be available for RDNA2 architecture.
It seems that this is a kind of response from Microsoft to extensions Vulkanannounced the other day. In any case, this will spur the gaming industry and will improve the graphic component of video games.
