The Digital Foundry experts, who did not have time to look at the game in the fall, decided to do it now.
There is really nothing to talk about: the remaster turned out to be quite standard – its creators improved the pre-recorded videos, tightened the quality of textures and some effects, and also redesigned the interface for a higher resolution.
However, DF does not consider this a big problem – the game itself has not aged a bit in 10 years, so it did not need to be reworked.
Remaster for PS4 vs original on PS3
There are now three performance modes available on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, PS5 and Xbox Series X – 4K @ 30 FPS, 1080p @ 60 FPS, and 4K with unlocked frame rate.
On nextgen consoles, the latter can be considered standard – there the game produces a stable 60 FPS. But on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X it is a little worse: on the first one, on average, about 51 FPS, and on the second – almost stable 60 FPS.
However, on Series X and One X, strange sagging frame rates still appear on the same section of the card – this happens on the southwest coast. There the number of frames for some reason constantly drops down to 42 FPS on the Series X and 30 FPS on the One X. This is not the case on the PlayStation.
The same segment.
But the lack of any improvements for the Xbox Series S is frustrating – there the game continues to work in the only mode for the Xbox One, that is, in 1080p at 30 FPS.
