It seems to be a millionaire, but it seems not: the Briton is unsuccessfully trying to get his hard drive with $ 278 million from the landfill

In 2013 Briton James Howells accidentally ejected the hard drive with 7,500 bitcoinsthat today could bring him about $ 278 million… Now he is trying to get permission from local authorities to search the Newport landfill for loss, but they constantly refuse him.

Under UK law, civilians are not allowed to visit household waste disposal facilities. Yes, and the ecology will be damaged by such searches, because a lot of time has passed since 2013 – the hard disk is buried under more than one ton of garbage. However, James doesn’t give up. Now he offers the authorities the following: if they allow him to search, he will find a hard drive and be able to recover bitcoins, then a quarter of the proceeds from the sale of cryptocurrency will go to government needs to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Of course, James got another rejection – the chances that he will find the hard drive in a landfill the size of a football field are extremely low.
