Insider: Treyarch Works On Call of Duty: Vanguard, Warzone Heads For Firestorm

Famous blogger Tom Henderson shared a new batch of insights related to the problematic development of a shooter Call of Duty: Vanguard, for which the studio is responsible Sledgehammer Games… The information can be divided into three blocks: Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone

As Henderson himself and a number of other bloggers said earlier, work on Vanguard proceeded with a creak, which is associated with the collapse and subsequent restructuring of the Sledgehammer Games studio, from which key developers left. The pandemic only made the situation worse.

The team faced a time pressure, which raised concerns that the new part of COD may not come out at all in 2023. However, Henderson’s sources are signaling that no disruptions will occur and the game will hit store shelves this fall.

Yes, in Activision now about 10 internal studios are working on the Call of Duty franchise, but the lion’s share of teams is exclusively dedicated to supporting Warzone. Therefore, Sledgehammer Games has to get out.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will not be able to surprise the players with much, since this is just another Call of duty in the setting of World War II. Initially, the developers tried to experiment, but due to the lack of time, all the developments had to be thrown away. The final version should be closer in spirit to Call of Duty: WWII.

On release, Vanguard will have around eight cards available (the number may vary). Some of the developments Sledgehammer Games borrowed straight from the reboot Modern warfare from Infinity ward, so the mode is expected to return Ground war (64 players are fighting on a large map with vehicles). Also, players will be able to run around the social zone. Headquatersdebuted in Wwii

Little is known about Zombies yet, although not only Sledgehammer Games is working on the mode, but also Treayarch… The latter makes sure the Vanguard fits into the “Universe of Zombies “, for which Activision has very big plans. Presumably, in the future, the popular mode can be turned into a separate game.

Henderson added that inside Treayrch, work is already in full swing on the new Call of Duty, which could be a reimagining. Black ops ii… We are talking about the setting of the future, but without exoskeletons and running on walls (the principle of “Boots on the ground“is still a priority).

With Warzone, things are much more interesting. Activision has taken into account the hype surrounding rumors about the Vanguard, deciding to make some money. Around the release of Sledgehammer’s Battle Royale games, a new map will be released in the setting of World War II. Its development started sometime in April 2023, and dataminers have already unearthed the names of the main points of interest.

According to preliminary data, Warzone developers borrowed a number of ideas from … Battlefield V: Firestorm… The size of the map will be larger Verdansk, there will also be new vehicles (tanks, planes, ships, and so on) that need room to maneuver. It is not planned to increase the maximum number of players not in the location, because Warzone should work on the consoles of the previous generation.

The use of heavy armored vehicles (heavy tanks, bombers) will only be available in new time modes, so as not to upset the balance. Henderson additionally described one of the new zones on the map. The soldiers will be able to find a Japanese ship that was pulled ashore and turned into a fortress.

Studio Raven Software (responsible for Warzone) allegedly plans to add destructible objects to the map. However, it is worth focusing on Rainbow six: siege, but not Battlefield… Presumably, walls, ceilings, doors, and so on will be shot and destroyed in buildings.

According to Tom Henderson’s forecasts, Call of Duty: Vanguard should be released sometime in early November, which will allow distance from competitors in the face of Battlefield 2042 and Halo: Infinite… Fans should prepare for a repeat of the story with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when the shooter suffered from a lack of content on release.
