Announcement Resident Evil: Village He confirmed most of the information previously published by insiders regarding the setting, gameplay, enemies, characters and topics raised, however, one moment still did not come true. Rumors attributed the release to the game on the current and next generation of platforms, but in fact it turned out that the project will appear only on PC and non-x-ray consoles Xbox Series X and Playstation 5.
Insider Dusk golem, who, in particular, owns a lot of information that came true about RE8, told on his Twitter account why Capcom made Resident Evil: Village exclusive of Nxtgen:
“The overhaul of the graphics that they are doing (and haven’t completed yet) has led to problems with the last generation consoles with long downloads and a lot of suddenly appearing / long loaded textures, since the game most of the time offers to explore the sections of the village and had a large number of loading zones.
Since the game focuses more on research, this would lead to console versions for the current generation having noticeable problems and holding back developers in how beautiful they could make certain scenes. Therefore, they decided to abandon the pastgen versions in order to completely remove all downloads and continue to improve the graphics, not paying attention to the restrictions imposed by the technologies of the current generation. “
Moreover, despite large areas for research, the game will not have a full open world. The game still follows a linear development, limiting the player’s movement to the plot framework – for example, there will be a moment when the character gets into the castle and is locked there.
Dusk Golem also said that Resident Evil: Revelations 3, from which Resident Evil: Village grew, was originally created with a first-person view, unlike the last two parts, where the characters were shown in perspective from a third person.
“Rev 3 was originally a breakdown of ideas for RE8, which faded into the background for Rev 3 and then turned back into RE8.”
After watching the first trailer, many players wonder if zombies will appear in the game. Dusk Golem says yes, however it will NOT classic zombies. Some of them wear armor and use swords as weapons.
The release of Resident Evil: Village will take place in 2023.
