At the moment, none of the games developed in PlatinumGames are owned by the studio. Publishers control the rights. For instance, Bayonetta is a Sega franchise, Astral chain – Nintendo, and NieR: Automata – property of Square Enix.

PlatinumGames has long wanted to start creating and publishing its own IPs, but it took a lot of money.

Microsoft sponsored and published the PlaleGames Scalebound role-playing action game that was canceled in 2017.
