Consoles Xbox Series X | S bypassed Playstation 5 UK April sales, according to a GamesIndustry.biz report citing data from GfK Entertainment.
At the end of the month, the new Microsoft consoles took the second line after Switchwhile the PS5 has lost several positions due to a large drop in consoles inventory… In fact, even Playstation 4 sold better than PS5 in April.
However, in terms of total sales for 2023, the PS5 has so far kept pace with the Nintendo Switch, while the Xbox Series is quickly catching up to the competition. This was reflected in the accessories as well. New controller Xbox in Carbon Black became the UK’s # 1 selling gamepad in April and DualSense dropped to second place… Interestingly, with the growth in PS4 sales, the demand for DualShock 4, thanks to which the gamepad has risen from the fifteenth position to the fifth place on the list.
For Switch, the past month has also turned out to be successful in terms of physical sales of games. According to GfK, the hybrid console accounted for almost half of the market in April (49.6%) and almost a third (32.5%), assuming only games from Nintendo itself. The most bought boxed game of the month was New Pokémon Snap, despite the fact that during the reporting period it was on sale for only two days…
In general, in the last month in the UK there were implemented 650 thous. games on physical media, down 41% from the same period a year earlier. Console sales were 90 thousand – on an annualized basis, this is also a noticeable minus (by 59%).
