“I’m not interested in this”: Dave Batista turned down a role in Fast and Furious for the adaptation of Gears of War

It’s not a secret that Dave Batista dreams of a desire to play Marcus Phoenix in the film adaptation of the shooter Gears of war, and recently in an interview, the actor admitted that for the sake of this role in the past, he even turned down an offer to star in a popular film franchise

It’s about the series “The fast and the furious“In a conversation with Collider, Batista recalled how some time ago he tried to use a meeting with the leadership of Universal to promote a film based on Gears of War. The studio wanted to see him in the new part of the racing franchise, but the actor noted that he was not interested in this and suggested instead to talk about the role of Marcus Phoenix.

To all appearances, the negotiations have led nowhere. Batista suggests Universal was a little scared off by his response, but he doesn’t regret not settling for the Fast and the Furious. The actor explained that he sees no point in pretending and acting in what he is not interested in, when the studio has a dream project in his hands, for which he is ready to go all out

Plans for a film adaptation of Gears of War have been dragging on since 2007. In 2016, Microsoft made a new effort to get the film into development by merging with Universal Pictures. The project was found by the author F. Scott Fraser and announced that the tape will not be part of the game universe, but since 2019 nothing has been heard about the project.

At the same time, Batista himself still appeared in the franchise, but so far only as an alternative model of Marcus Phoenix for multiplayer and the Gears 5 campaign, while he not only gave the hero his appearance, but also completely re-voiced all the lines.
