On August 17, the release of the new global strategy Humankind will take place – perhaps the crown of the creation of game designers in this genre. In my opinion, it will be a breath of fresh air for all 4X fans, as the cherished “exploration, expansion, exploitation and destruction” is revealed in it to the maximum. I’ll tell you about my first experience of playing Humankind in this review.

Luxurious lobby and surprisingly few map settings
From the moment of loading, any player in the current parts of the Civilization series will notice that the authors were not only inspired by the original – they tried to surpass it in all aspects. In the lobby, you can see that Humankind is a glove thrown in the face of the developers of the world’s most popular global strategy. Whether Firaxis will meet the challenge is an open question.
Amplitude Studios is working on Humankind, and this is not the first project in the genre for it. Previously, the company created the Endless series, which included space strategy Space, fantasy Legends and their sequels. You can find many developments from this series in Humankind, but even the harshest critic will not turn his tongue to accuse the studio of self-repetition. The mechanics familiar from both Endless and Civilization are organically woven into Humankind – the game justifies even such a boring part of the gameplay as diplomacy, not to mention intelligence, the choice of social institutions, pumping the skill tree and other development. My constant hints of similarities with Civilization may seem offensive to the authors, but I do it on purpose: whatever one may say, there is no more popular 4X in the world, and if not journalists, then the players will certainly compare.
