On the night of August 6, Valve announced that the new patch will be released after the end of the current Battle Pass, that is, after August 17. And we are not talking about minor 7.29e, but about the global update 7.30. This means that we can expect major changes that will affect not only the balance of heroes, but also the economy, map and items. Who knows, maybe we will even be presented with a new character. About what to expect from 7.30 in the material Cybersport.ru.

New carry

In 2023, Valve announced that it would no longer guess all announcements and updates for The International. And this time she kept her word: a major patch will not be released after TI, but two months before it. Later, the developers promised that in 2023 several new characters will be waiting for us at once – we have already received Dawnbreaker, so it’s time to open the next one. The moment is excellent: the new hero will not interfere with esportsmen in any way, because he will not appear in Captains Mode soon.

Monkey king

We have specific wishes for the hero himself – Valve hasn’t released new carries for a long time (a very long time). The latest was Monkey King, which was released back in December 2016. Almost five years have passed since then, during which time eight characters have appeared in the game, but none of them can be considered as a full-fledged carry. At first they tried to use the same Mars, Dawnbreaker and Pangolier in the first position, but very quickly they moved to the “three”.

There are plenty of contenders to become a new hero in Dota 2. Among them are the characters from the anime “Dragon’s Blood”, which users talked about a lot before the release of Dawnbreaker, and mythological creatures like the four “spiritists”, Mars or Dawnbreaker, which Valve has taken a fancy to recently.

Changing outposts

In the current meta, outposts have become mostly teleportation points. But the value of their bonus to experience was leveled, because the outpost can be captured only after the destruction of T2, which is not so easy to do in the current meta. Valve removed the Necronomicon from the game, fast-pushing strategies are out of fashion, and matches often spill over into late game and last at least 30 minutes. Experience in Dota 2 certainly plays a significant role, but in the later stages, when outposts begin to change hands, it is far from so important. In addition, after the active outpost began to bring experience every minute, and not every five, as before, the battles for it became less fierce. It is usually simply impossible to keep it constantly, and the opponent will not even notice the loss of bonus experience in two minutes. Therefore, the entire strategic value of the outpost began to be in the ability to teleport to it.

Outpost

Perhaps the developers will change this situation by making outposts more valuable to the team. For example, making buildings bring gold or keeping two outposts at once gives small bonuses to the team – the same + 10% to characteristics or attack speed would be a good motivation to fight for control of the outposts.

The return of push

This is a continuation of the previous thesis about the low value of outposts due to the lack of quick strategies. With the disappearance of the Necronomicon, the gradual strengthening of the towers and the change in the backdoor defense system, strategies aimed specifically at lightning-fast demolition of buildings simply died out. Therefore, the conditional Nature’s Prophet settled in the last place in terms of winrate in matchmaking. He was accompanied by Lycan, Lone Druid and Beastmaster.

The return of the meta of the TI4 era with 20-minute maps and running forward summons, of course, hardly anyone wants. However, developers may well be wondering about the balance between late game bias and aggressive strategies. Valve should encourage gamers to go all-in and try to quickly take T2 and T3 towers. The latter are now without Aegis, pick-off and 10-15 thousand. Advantages rarely come. Strengthening outposts is one way. After all, if buildings begin to give more bonuses, teams that manage to capture them early will be able to gain a tangible advantage. But you can still increase the reward for the demolition of T3, and make the effect of losing a side more tangible, because now the attacks of super creeps can hardly cause problems for some team.

Beastmaster

Changes in the pace of the game can also be influenced by the reworking of the general economic model. After all, Valve hasn’t modified this component of Dota 2 in an amicable way for a long time. Any economic change always has far-reaching consequences. They are not so easy to spot right away, but they are gradually changing the meta and the entire gameplay, and most importantly, they just refresh the game.

Hero balance

Obviously, first of all, everyone is waiting for the nerf of Luna, Winter Wyvern, Broodmother and other meta characters. In the case of the first two, the developers will certainly weaken or change the effect of Aghanim’s Shard. In fact, Valve is facing a tough challenge in terms of balancing heroes, because developers need to decide on whose experience in matchmaking to rely on when changing characters – esports players or ordinary gamers. Because many heroes have completely opposite results at different ranks. Batrider, for example, ranks second to last in winrate (44.25%) overall, but he is second in high rankings (56.5%). The opposite situation with Wraith King – his overall winrate is 52.83%, and at high ranks – 47%. If you focus exclusively on the professional scene, then in general, incidents may arise – Necrophos was taken only once during the qualifiers for TI10 in all regions, but in matchmaking the character in the top in terms of winrate is 52.81%. So what to do with it, weaken or strengthen?

Luna

In addition to nerfs, of course, I would like to see the return of many forgotten characters. We have already said about pushers like Beastmaster and Nature’s Prophet. It is worth noting that in the current patch the pool of meta supports and offlaners is quite wide, and to some extent even the carry pool (it is clear that Luna is out of competition, but the same Terrorblade, Drow Ranger, Phantom Lancer, Medusa, Faceless Void and others too are quite relevant). But with the mid lanes, everything is much more complicated: Sniper, Queen of Pain, Zeus, Outworld Destroyer, Visage, Death Prophet, Tinker (if you take the professional scene) partially or completely dropped out of the meta. There are, in fact, four characters constantly shuffling along the center lane – Puck, Lina, Templar Assassin, and Invoker. To this list, one of the “spiritualists” is sometimes added.

I would like to highlight Earthshaker and Warlock separately. Both supports have lost their popularity both in matchmaking and in the professional scene. But with them the game always became more spectacular and epic – two massive ultimates that could turn any fight over. There are really not enough of them now, so we hope that the developers have in store for Earthshaker and Warlock a couple of buffs so that we can again see the Echo Slam for a couple of million and the killer combinations of Fatal Bonds and Chaotic Golem in the fight at Roshan.

Updated map and enhanced Roshan

Updating the map and especially the forest is something that gamers are always waiting for, regardless of whether they like or dislike the current state of affairs. New farming spots, paths, blind spots, ward positions and more are things that are always fun to learn. Therefore, it is not so important here what exactly these changes will turn out to be, the main thing is that they should be.

Roshan

Valve hasn’t introduced new jungle creeps or moved Roshan for a long time. Changing the latter’s lair can turn a lot in Dota 2 itself. In addition, it is worth thinking about strengthening the owner of Aegis. Now in the late game, Roshan just gets an increase in damage and health. Adding new abilities to him after two deaths would be fair, given that the rewards from him have become much more generous. Situations in which, in the 50th minute, the opposing team takes Roshan in 30 seconds and receives four items start to get a little tiring.

New event

“Hostility” turned out to be a frankly disastrous event, and it made sense to go to it only for the sake of leveling the Battle Pass. About why the event turned out to be so boring and unprincipled, we have already wrote earlier… Valve’s PvP events are rarely interesting at all, but PvE content is more fun.

Considering that Valve immediately announced two events, the first of which turned out to be a PvP event, the second will most likely be PvE. What can we expect? The developers have previously shown three types of events:

  • First… Players defend “something” by repelling waves of creeps that grow stronger with each round. This, for example, was Dark Moon. Users have a limited selection of heroes, and some of their abilities have been changed. We are looking for the best character setups and just mowing hordes of monsters. It was nice, but not as addictive.
  • Second… Players go through a limited number of rooms, collect improvements and fight bosses every few levels. This was last year’s Aghanim’s Labyrinth event. Valve made it extremely replayable through multiple difficulty levels. In addition, there was a system of improvement trees, points for which were accumulated after passing. And most importantly, in Aghanim’s Labyrinth there was a random sequence of rooms and awards, thanks to which it was possible to build a character’s leveling in different ways, which made the process not as stereotyped as in the case of Dark Moon. In addition, Valve, after the release of the event, made adjustments to its balance by changing the characters. Accordingly, gamers were forced to reconsider their approach to choosing a hero setup. The event turned out to be really curious and addictive (even the tactics for bosses had to be studied).
  • The third… The campaign is in the spirit of classic RPGs, as it was during the Siltbreaker event. Several different locations, many hidden secrets, tasks, and, of course, bosses. Scorpio, I think, will probably be remembered by many fans. Siltbreaker, released on the eve of TI7, was one of the few events that can be called a full-fledged mode, and not just a “custom” made on the knee. Considering the positive feedback from the players and the long break since the last such event, we can expect a new campaign. Although it seems more likely to add an event of the first or second type.
