Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds Will Battle Crackdown 3

This coming November will be a major month for the gaming industry. A number of games will release throughout the month, but there’s a specific day that’s shaping up to be bigger than usual. On Nov. 7, a small handful of games and hardware will grace the gaming industry, making for one competitive day.

The most obvious release happening on Nov. 7 is of course Xbox One X. Microsoft’s mid-generation upgrade will arrive and looks to deliver “true 4K” experiences to Xbox gamers. The system is going to be on sale for $499, and there will likely be bundles that launch alongside the system.

General hype for the console seems to be a bit lower than one might expect. Gamescom 2017 is right around the corner though, and Microsoft will likely make a splash with Xbox One X. I expect the firm to finally announce pre-orders for Xbox One X, and even reveal a handful of bundles for the system. They need to jumpstart buzz about the new system and something like that might help do the trick.

Xbox One X isn’t the only release from Microsoft on Nov. 7, as Crackdown 3 will finally arrive on that day too. The game has been in development for years and many thought there was trouble with the game months ago. However, this past E3 Microsoft put to bed any whispers of the game tumbling toward a fate like Scalebound‘s.

Up until now, Terry Crews has been the big catch for Crackdown 3. E3 2017 saw a trailer showcasing Terry being Terry. Then at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Terry was the highlight for the Crackdown 3 panel. Many gamers are still wondering when/if that multiplayer beta that was mentioned seemingly years ago will actually come to fruition.

Microsoft is promising more gameplay from Crackdown 3 at Gamescom 2017. While they did show off gameplay at E3, it was only a small montage. Gamescom 2017 feels like a perfect place for multiplayer details to come, given the fact that E3 was mostly about single-player. Microsoft has to make a splash with Crackdown 3 at Gamescom 2017.

The other Microsoft title that will launch on Nov. 7 is Super Lucky’s Tale, which was revealed at E3 2017. This action 3D platformer is in development at the studio Playful Corp. Its worlds look beautiful and colorful from the gameplay that’s out there right now.

In a day and age when we don’t see too many platformers, it is awesome to see Super Lucky’s Tale. Earlier this year, Team17 and Playtonic released Yooka-Laylee, but not much else has come in the way of platformers. This will be an interesting game if for nothing else than it’s a step away from most of the games that’ll release this year.

Last, and certainly not least, Horizon Zero Dawn will receive its first expansion, The Frozen Wilds. Set in a snowy, frozen tundra, Aloy will begin her next journey and as gamers will battle through hours of new gameplay. The expansion delivers new lands, a brand-new story and new machines.

When the full game debuted earlier this year, it was received with praise and adoration from fans and critics. Guerrilla’s Horizon Zero Dawn simply transports gamers to a world with great intrigue. It is a leading candidate for Game of the Year for some, and is clearly a major franchise for Sony.

There are some big time releases happening for video games this coming Nov. 7. That day will be when three major pieces of software and a huge piece of hardware arrive. Surely, one would expect Xbox One X to gain all of the headlines, however, The Frozen WildsSuper Lucky and Crackdown 3 may have something else to say.
