On October 6, the matches of the European Division IEM New York 2023 in CS: GO will start. Only in the CIS and North America will compete for the Regional Major Rankings points at this tournament, but it will also be interesting in Europe – at least because of the eminent participants. At the same time, most likely, they will fight for the trophy Heroic, and FaZe Clan will have to try hard to at least get into the playoffs. Cybersport.ru together with the bookmaker Parimatch assesses the teams’ chances of winning.

Favorites – Heroic, BIG and Vitality
The bookmaker considers the French to be the main contender for victory, although first of all I give preference to the Danes and the German team. Long distance Team Vitality looks very strong, but Heroic is too good after the July break, and BIG’s recent failures can be attributed to bad luck.
Team Vitality didn’t get rid of ZywOo-dependency, and the Frenchman stopped pulling matches alone. Shox seemed to be gaining in value compared to last fall, but has consistently dropped out in recent games. The rest of the squad members are also unstable, including misutaaa… At ESL Pro League Season 12, the team did not even leave the group.
Heroic, as it turned out, is good even without (possible) hints from the coach. The same ESL One Cologne 2023 team won absolutely honestly and was head and shoulders above everyone else. In the 12th season of ESL Pro League, the team cadiaN there were problems in the group stage, but only future finalists stopped him in the playoffs Natus Vincere and Astralis… Danes look very strong and without active help HUNDEN during matches.
Spring-summer BIG demolished all living things, but now the chair under the command suddenly swayed. Certainly XANTARES and the company is still in the pool of top teams in Europe, but they do not look invincible – the last two tournaments have clearly demonstrated this. In Cologne, BIG took off immediately, and at the EPL took 5-6 place. In decisive matches, both XANTARES and tiziaNand k1to – stably wins back only syrsoN… However, even so, BIG now looks preferable to Vitality.
Winning odds:
- Heroic – 4.00;
- BIG – 6.50;
- Team Vitality – 3.75…
Challengers – OG, G2 and Fnatic
Parimatch analysts believe that G2 Esports and Fnatic more chance of winning than BIG. However, the latest results from the teams suggest otherwise.
Before the lockdown, G2 Esports was among the strongest participants in the scene, but gradually the French-Balkan team lost ground. After the tournament in Katowice, G2 reached the finals twice more, but did not win a single one. At the rest of the championships, the results were, to put it mildly, average, and a couple of times the team did not even reach the top 8. No wonder there were rumors that the Kovacs brothers could reunite in the composition: however, it seems that ocelote could not agree with FaZe Clan. Nevertheless, the reshuffle (or at least the expansion to six players) was a real option.
Have Fnatic too, everything is very bad. In April, the Swedes became the champions of the 11th season of the ESL Pro League, but then a black streak began – not a single podium and even getting into the top 4 in seven tournaments and one qualification. In just a few months, Fnatic fell from the first line of the HLTV.org rating to 13th. And while there are no prerequisites to assert that the fall will end soon.
OG also cannot get out in the leaders of the scene yet. The team constantly lacks something, the distance of the participants from each other also negatively affects – the same ISSAA can’t move to Europe, which is why OG can’t get together at the bootcamp. However, NBK I am confident that the team is about to start realizing its full potential. IEM New York will be another try.
Winning odds:
- G2 Esports – 4.50;
- Fnatic – 6.00;
- OG – 11.00…
Outsiders – FaZe and Complexity Gaming
Sad to see Complexity Gaming among the outsiders, but now it’s a harsh reality. Alas, the team did not pass the pandemic stress test – nerves broke down oBotired of being away from home. Now the prospects for a very nice team are extremely vague.
In the last matches of ESL Pro League Season 12, replaced the American NaToSaphiX… Not to say that he played badly, but clearly worse than oBo, which rarely left the server with negative statistics of murders and deaths. Now Jason Lake’s “juggernaut” will be looking for a fifth player – and the selection will obviously take time, so for now, one should not expect feats from Complexity.
However, you shouldn’t worry about Complexity. She has a very understanding leader who truly loves the team and does not demand immediate results. The team has already lost the chances of reaching the Major, so it can pick up the fifth player in a relatively calm mode. However, even in this situation, it is too early to bury COL – at IEM New York she is quite capable of at least leaving the group.
FaZe Clan is a much more hopeless outsider now. It is not yet clear what is happening in the team, but definitely nothing good. Firstly, the team is losing everything in a row, and secondly, there were rumors that the team might leave NiKo… Yes, the option with G2 Esports, it seems, did not burn out, but what prevents him from going somewhere else?
After a series of 3-4 places in May-June, the team first failed on cs_summit, and then ingloriously flew out of ESL One Cologne and ESL Pro League Season 12. The system that NiKo is building is clearly bursting at the seams: newcomers do not inspire optimism, as well as coldzera with NiKo. At the same time, it is worth remembering that any metamorphosis can happen to FaZe – a team, even after a protracted series of failed tournaments, can rehabilitate itself in one championship. This has already happened in the history of FaZe, but I would not expect miracles at IEM New York.
Winning odds:
- Complexity Gaming – 13.00;
- FaZe Clan – 11.00…
