This year the French publishing house Ubisoft has been at the center of a number of scandals involving complaints of toxic work environments in offices around the world, harassment and various other conflicts.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, a wave of layoffs swept through the company, and processes were launched to restructure some of its branches. At the same time, the President Yves Guillemot personally promised to take control of what was happening, focusing on the positive dynamics that he plans to follow in the foreseeable future, listening carefully to all complaints and suggestions.
Within the framework of the initiative voiced above, within Ubisoft a large-scale survey was conducted to systematize information and use it for subsequent anti-crisis measures. The results of the survey, in which more than 14 thousand people took part, turned out to be quite speaking.
About 25% of respondents over the past two years have personally encountered incorrect situations in the workplace, and 20% of respondents said they could not feel safe within the company. At the same time, women and non-binary persons most often complain about harassment.…
Based on this data, Ubisoft focuses on four points.
- Every employee needs to provide a safe and inviting work environment.
- Inclusiveness and diversity on a variety of grounds must be paramount.
- The HR department must rethink its approach to work.
- Management should have more responsibility and more influence.
Internal anonymous channels for complaints have already been created and special departments have been set up to help the victims. For maximum transparency, they will be overseen by third parties.
