Hackers Hacked a Server AMDby accessing the source code for GPUinvolved in architecture-based graphics cards RDNA 2.0that go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2023. The information was partially confirmed by the company.
As stated in the company’s statement, this is a code for the GPU, codenamed Navi 10, Navi 21 and Arden. Navi 21 is the heart of the new graphics card Big naviand Arden is the next-generation console GPU version Xbox Series X, which is modified to fit Microsoft.
The attacker has already contacted the media through which she blackmails AMD, demanding to pay her $ 100 million for refusing to publish information. The hacker also posted several pieces of code on Github as evidence of the seriousness of his intentions, and also claims that the hacking occurred through vulnerabilities in the software of the computer / server, and the information was not encrypted.
AMD clarified that they were initially contacted back in December 2019, after which the company made attempts to delete the information. So, complaints were made to GitHub administrators, but the code for the GPU was also published on other resources, including 4Chan.
“We work closely with law enforcement officials and other experts on an ongoing criminal investigation,” AMD said.
However, the company claims that the stolen data was test, so they supposedly do not pose a threat to the current AMD product line.
