“GTA is awesome, hard to come off”: 90-year-old gamer grandmother has become YouTube’s oldest gaming blogger

Passion for interactive entertainment is something that has long been included in our way of life. From a modest hobby for enthusiasts, gaming has turned into a whole cultural layer. However, the older and more conservative generation rarely shares this passion. For some, the entry threshold seems insurmountably high, while other groups of citizens have strict prejudices, and the look of the gamepad makes them indifferent at best. But this does not mean that people of the old formation never play games. AND Hamako Mori, 90-year-old Japanese grandmother, leading her own blog on YouTubeis the clearest example.

A few years ago hamako registered account, where she decided to share with the audience her adventures in a variety of game worlds. Today her blog has 185 thousand subscribers, and grandmother herself received a prestigious award – she was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest person to host a gaming-themed YouTube channel.

It is important to note that her passion for games began many years before this initiative, today the total playing experience of Hamako totals whole 39 years.

“On YouTube, I really like to broadcast various actions. Before, I almost didn’t play such games, they seemed too complicated. But those who are 60 years old should be able to cope easily. I’m not meeting my peers in this hobby,” says Hamako .

Of your favorite games, Hamako Mori now notes Grand theft auto v from Rockstar games. Grandma really likes the way the game looks.

“GTA V is a fun game. As you sit down, it doesn’t stop. It feels like you are watching a real movie. It’s a great game. And the graphics are amazing, cinematic,” the gamer’s grandmother continues.

For Hamako, games became a hobby back in 1981 year. Since then, her house has accumulated a huge library of a wide variety of projects from various eras of the entertainment industry. Some of them, an enthusiast now can’t even remember, but cartridge with Super mario immediately brings a warm smile to her face.

“I watched how children spend time enthusiastically playing games, and from the outside it seemed very interesting. But it’s a real tragedy, if it’s an interesting hobby to give only to the younger generation. But when I started playing myself, I didn’t succeed,” – continues Hamako Mori.

Despite the fact that the games bring the Japanese woman a lot of joy, losing to her can be difficult. But she still does not give up and tries to bring things to a victorious end.

“The game is a lot of fun, but losing is no less difficult. And I often lose. But on the other hand, the feelings of satisfaction from the game passed, from a well-deserved victory, are very pleasant. Although when something does not work out, I’m still upset,” thoughts of the heroine of the news.

Despite his venerable age, Hamako calmly spend long periods of time playing games; her average session is 7-8 hours a day. And before, the Japanese played even more.

At the same time, the new record holder admits that, in her opinion, it is almost impossible to captivate the older generation with games, especially conservative Japanese. Hamako believes that in other countries there may be more grandparents sharing her hobbies, but she doubts that there are a lot of them.

Today, Hamako remains extremely positive, she loves what she does and sincerely invites other older people to try herself in a new field.

“It seemed to me that when I start playing games, life will immediately become more interesting and I won’t have to bother with unnecessary things. I’m glad that I have lived in the world for so many years. And I’m very glad that I continue to play. I enjoy life. I tell everyone : life is blooming! And I think it would be great if other elderly people could spend time just like me, “concludes Hamako Mori in her speech, receiving a certificate of the record awarded to her.
