Seven centuries-old trees in the Polish city of Ostrolenki were named after characters from the universe “The Witcher“This initiative was promoted by the youth city council and approved by sixteen MPs. Two officials abstained from voting, one opposed.
The decision was opposed by a deputy Ryszard Zhukovsky, who stated that the names proposed are not of Polish origin. He also expressed the opinion that trees should not be named after “wizards and rats”.
Now six oak trees, which are natural monuments, bear the proud names of Geralt, Cyril, Dandelion, Triss Merigold, Vesemir and Yennifer, and the remaining ash was named Regis.
A flurry of premieres awaits fans of The Witcher this year. Recently augmented reality game was released on mobile devices The Witcher: Monster Slayer, and by the end of this year the next-gen version of the third “Witcher” will be released, which will include new content. Besides, August 23 the online video service Netflix will release an animated film about Vesemir, while the year will end with the release December 17 second season of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill.
