For the sale of equipment without Russian software they propose to fine

State Duma deputies adopted in the second reading amendments to article 14.8 of the Code of the Russian Federation, involving fines for legal entities and officials for the sale of equipment on the territory of our country, in particular smartphones, computers and TVs with the “smart TV” function, without preinstalled software of domestic production.

Recall that the law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software was signed by the President Vladimir Putin back at the end of 2019, but in 2023, its entry into force was postponed to 2023. In addition to the postponed deadlines, the changes affected the software-producing countries – the pre-installed software can be produced not only in Russia, but also in such EAEU countries as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

For example, among the applications approved for installation on smartphones are Yandex Browser, ICQ, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Kaspersky Internet Security.

The amount of the fine is suggested to be indicated in the range from 30 to 50 thousand rubles for officials and in the amount of 50 to 200 thousand for legal. In the event of the final adoption of the law, this system of penalties will come into effect July 1, 2023.
