Eidos Montreal compared Guardians of the Galaxy to Alien: Isolation and Deus Ex

Staff Eidos montreal gave a great interview to the portal Game Informer, in which they talked about their new project Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The studio considers their project unique, drawing parallels with horror Alien: Isolation from Creative assembly, which stands out from other representatives of the genre.

The emphasis in Guardians of the Galaxy will be on the interaction of characters with each other. Initially, the developers wanted to integrate the co-op, but in the end they decided to limit themselves to a single adventure.

The new combat system in Eidos Montreal is called “team solo game”. The player takes control Peter Quill (Star lord) and can give orders to the rest of the squad. The latter have their own specializations:

  • Groot – defense;
  • Rocket – long-range attack;
  • Gamora – attacks single targets;
  • Drax – attacks groups of enemies.

The rocket can climb onto Groot for spectacular attacks. You need to understand that partners are pulling the attention of enemies to themselves. If they are disabled, players will have additional problems.

As for Star-Lord, the studio wanted to integrate the cover system, but in the end it was decided to make the character a more active participant in the brawls. When he gives orders, time slows down. Shooting was also made easier due to auto-aiming and lack of reloading (twin blasters overheat).

The pumping will affect the Star-Lord’s weapons, which will be enhanced through elemental attacks. By the end of the passage, the player will be able to select combinations suitable for certain enemies.

Eidos Montreal encourages exploration of the environment. So that the game does not seem monotonous, the developers prepared a lot of unique scenes and recorded a huge number of lines for the characters – approximately twice as many as in Deus Ex (unclear, we are talking about Mankind divided or Human revolution).

The game Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on October 26, 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch (cloud version), Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4 and PS5.
