Studio Battlestate games not going to add to the shooter Escape from Tarkov playable female characters. This was stated by company representatives in response to criticism from some users.
In the New Year holidays, Escape from Tarkov was in first place on views on the platform Twitch thanks to the distribution of bonuses for stream tracking. However, the game attracted the attention of feminists and fighters for justice, who were outraged by the lack of female characters in the shooter. Also, Battlestate Games recalled an interview from 2016, which stated that only “seasoned people” can play in their project, and women will not be able to cope with this “amount of stress.”
Despite this, the studio does not intend to succumb to pressure. The developers emphasized that Escape from Tarkov already has non-player female characters who will issue story quests. However, you can’t play for them, which is due to ENT and the need to create new animations from scratch.
Escape from Tarkov is still in beta.
