Dishonored, Skyrim, Fallout 4 & Prey Tested With FPS Boost On Xbox Series X | S

Microsoft added support yesterday FPS Boost on Xbox Series X | S Five Bethesda games, including Dishonored: Definitive Edition, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Prey. YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits tested the claimed performance improvement and recorded a video with a comparison… The results are below.

  • In all games, the frame rate has increased from 30 to 60 frames per second. There were no drawdowns on Series X or Series S.
  • On Xbox Series S, games run in native resolution with Xbox One: 900p for Prey and 1080p for everyone else.
  • Xbox Series X launches versions with the Xbox One X profile, but in two of them – Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 – the resolution when FPS Boost is turned on decreases from 2160p to 1080p. Prey runs on Xbox Series X at 1440p, Skyrim runs at 2160p, and Dishonored hasn’t gotten any improvements and is left at 1080p.

As a reminder, with a recent system software update, Xbox Series X | S consoles have an option to turn off FPS Boost. It is available in the Compatibility Options section of the Game Controls menu for backward compatible titles.
