Company Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the next generation console Playstation 5 will not be available for purchase in Russian retail stores at the start of November 19. They plan to sell the set-top box exclusively in online stores, and even there the number will be limited… Therefore, if you did not have time to pre-order and were going to go in search of the PlayStation 5 on the day of the console’s debut in the city, it’s time to reconsider your plans.
“On the day of the console’s release on November 19, you will not be able to purchase it in retail stores – abandon plans to visit or queue in stores in your city that day in the hope of purchasing a PS5… Take care of yourself, stay at home and place an order online, “- said in a message from Sony.
The situation is not exclusive to Russia – Sony is taking a common approach to launching globally. The company explains that it wants to “keep players, suppliers and employees safe” amid the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection. So players are invited to follow the announcements of the possibility to buy the PlayStation 5 in online stores.
If you pre-ordered from a regular retail store with a pickup, you can pick up your PlayStation 5 there on the day of release “in accordance with security protocols”… But Sony will not allow the PlayStation 5 to be freely available on regular shelves to avoid queues and crowds.
“Players who pre-order the console from a retail store will be able to receive it in accordance with the vendor’s security protocols. Contact the vendor for details on how to obtain the console.”
When Sony will allow retailers to sell the PlayStation 5 in physical stores is unknown.
