Developers Bayonetta 3 and Babylon’s fall received from a Chinese investment holding Tencent investment that has become the basis for partnerships. About it on the official PlatinumGames website reported President and CEO of the development studio Kenichi Sato.
This partnership will in no way affect the independence of Platinum Games, which will continue to operate within its current corporate structure.
Sato said his company will use Tencent’s investment to “Strengthening the foundation from a business point of view and moving from game development to exploring the possibility of independent publishing”. In addition, Platinum Games hope the partnership “allow a broader global perspective”. At the same time, the company “as before will create high-quality games”.
In the foreseeable future, PlatinumGames hopes to present its first project of its own (in total, it creates two of its IPs) – all the rest of its games belong to publishing partners. For example, Nier: Automata is the property of Square Enix, Bayonetta is Sega, Astral Chain is Nintendo.
