Deputies decided to ban the sale of vapes in Russia

It became known that the State Duma deputies decided to ban the sale of vapes, as well as electronic cigarettes and other non-smoking products that contain nicotine.

During a meeting of the working group in the State Duma on February 14, the deputies, together with employees of Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health, as well as representatives of companies manufacturing tobacco products, discussed the final amendments to the second reading of the anti-tobacco law. According to Gamebomb.ru, the meeting discussed the ban on the sale of all electronic cigarettes and vapes until a three-regulation regulating the implementation of smoking systems is developed. It is noted that this period may last two years, according to Vedomosti.

Thus, restrictions on the sale of vapes and electronic cigarettes can be imposed for two years or more. The first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Valery Ryazansky, in turn, expressed his opinion at the meeting that various non-smoking products containing nicotine, such as snus and packs, should be completely banned. Ryazansky believes that they can only be sold if they are registered as medical devices, as some manufacturers describe products such as the “way to quit smoking”.

As Gmebomb.ru notes, amendments to the anti-tobacco law are going to be discussed again on February 19. The second reading of the bill, in turn, will be held on March 3. At the same time, manufacturers of tobacco products are not sure that the three-regulation will be prepared in two years.
