Destiny 2 on PC, Technical Analysis of the Bungie title

About a week ago, Activision’s kids opened dedicated Destiny 2 servers on the platform queue in terms of broadcasting, the PC . The title is actually landed on the Blizzard launcher , whose name has just returned from Battle.net, and after careful testing and installation of 35 GB on HDD, which will increase in view of the DLC, we are ready to tell you com ‘is the mouse tuto

r experience to the right and WASD to the left. First of all, it is worth remembering that this is the first appearance of the Activisionbrandon Personal Computer and, around it, there was much curiosity. The reasons are soon known, on the one hand, a gaming engine that has to be guar

anteed as well as excellent performance on consoles, even the maximum possible performance on PC, strictly 4K resolution on the latest and performing hardware, and on the other an infrastructure of content to the MMO that could satiate the inexhaustible hunger of activities of this type of player. While in the second we will only make a mention, since what we have been able to see is no different from the analysis already made on Destiny 2  by our Yuri, we will take the opportunity to focus on the technical sectorand gaming experience on the unedited input peripherals.

We would like to point out that our experience with the game on consoles took place mainly on PS4 PRO on a 4K TV, while on PC, it took place on three configurations between the office and the work, which we list here below, all broadly ‘ minimum requirements.
1) Ryzen 5 1600x, GTX 1050Ti 4GB, 16GB DDR4
2) Intel i5 4670k, RX480 8GB, 16GB DDR3 1866Mhz
3) Intel i5 6600k, GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR4

A look at the technical department

The first glimpse of the console version is fps unlocked , able to touch, if configuration and resolution allow it, 60 if not more. We did not want to concentrate on higher fps, even given the nature of Destiny 2 shooting , but instead we had to try different solutions with as many standard resolution as possible.
Indicatively we can identify these three categories of computers enough to run (though with some compromise) the title to a good graphic d
etail and resolution respectively FHD , QHD and 4K respectively . Obviously in the latter case the sacrifices were greater, but there is also to be admitted that at this resolution eli
minate some effect as antialiasing has not been particularly impressive on the screen image. Compared to the console counterpart ( PS4 Pro) we did not notice any improvements in texture, even setting “maximum” on PC, but we found a larger model cleaner, more penetrating lighting in the image, as well as more precise shadows and a greater depth of field.
At close range, especially at lower resolutions, the use of antialiasing is more than recommended and shows the difference with the console counterpart, with the preference that goes to the SMAA method, not particularly heavy on performance but definitely more effective in the scenes in motion compared to the FXAA, which works on the image only in post-processing.
Beyond that, the settings menu offered by Destiny 2 is definitely suited to PC users and allows precise tuning of graphic detail, as well as game settings, such as interface and any controls. In fact, the title does not require immense firepower to ensure a good rendering of the screen image.

You can select the window mode, resolution, vSync setting or visual field (from a minimum of 55 to a maximum of 105) to go into the advanced settings that will make the joy of the most ridiculous, and that we will quote you below. Finally, there is no HDR support if you have a monitor equipped with this feature.

In Destiny 2 is not missing the option to activate the counter FPS in-game, but it was necessary in the process of tweaking because of ‘ inability to use software overlay , except for Shadowplay Nvidia, which is also sponsor of game. This limits use with other commonly used applications, such as OBS, which have to use screen output rather than direct game play, for capture and streaming. This is a surely wasted opportunity and an important new one in the framework of a very well done porting.
Good progress on loading times, a little less for networking that still suffers from some legends of the legendary cabbage error. Luckily at the cooperative and competitive matchmaking stage, for cruising games, we did not find any sort of problems.

A solid shooting

Destiny is one of the other hybridizing forms of our time, a bit of a shooter, a little role-playing game, which includes a clear social vein to be found in cooperative and competitive online. A mix of elements consoles to the last and penultimate generation consoles, which has found in this audience an ideal ground for the genus to blossom into a large and hungry community. F
rom the point of view of gameplay, the result was a very solid shooting and a particularly intriguing feeling, which made the in-game activities even if not too varied but still enjoyable and enjoyable. So, beyond the ability to play with the pad on PC, we were curious to find out how, if possible, they would be able to translate those feelings on mouse and keyboard.
The result surpassed the expectation because the ease and fluency of the controls made it a pleasure to grab the enemies even by pressing the SX mouse button. In particular, while maintaining the smooth aiming function (a pseudo-auto-aim), it’s very easy to keep the pointer checked, so that raising the mouse sensitivity becomes a practically obligatory practice. Here, too, the commands between the command settings, including adjusting the sensitivity and recalling all the features on the keyboard keys, were very simple.
There is also to be admitted, however, that the limited speed of movement compared to the typical PC shooter is felt to those who are used to much more frenzied productions, giving a peculiar appearance for fortune limited by the wide directional mobility of the character.
