The conference has joined the growing list of events that have been canceled due to concerns about the proliferation of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) Unreal fest europe from Epic.
A conference for developers was to be held in Prague from April 29 to May 1 of this year, but message on the official website of the event confirms the decision to cancel the event this year.
“Due to the uncertainty regarding health issues, we made the difficult decision to cancel the event this year,” the official press release reads.
Epic Games is currently discussing options with speakers for presentations at other events or through virtual platforms. Additional information will be provided in the next few weeks.
The company has confirmed that it plans to launch Unreal Fest Europe 2023 next year.
Earlier, because of the coronavirus, Epic refused to participate in a major developer conference GDC 2023. A similar decision was made by such well-known companies as Sony, Facebook, Microsoft and Unity. Subsequently, the event organizers had to cancel it altogether.
On the eve of the cancellation of their own event I / O Google announced, and Space Ape Games and Supercell refused to hold another gaming event – Games first london.
Meanwhile, Nvidia Corporation has already decided to hold a conference. GTC 2023 as an online event, and Facebook canceled its own annual event F8, which was supposed to take place only in May of this year.
Despite a series of cancellations, the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) has assured that the largest gaming exhibition E3 will be held in accordance with the schedule.
