Development of the next part Civilizationappears to be under way already. Studio Firaxis posted an ad seeking a lead storyteller to work on an upcoming “AAA-grade strategy game.” One of the qualities required of a candidate for a vacant position is “knowledge and passion for world history“.
The vacancy itself does not say that it is about Civilization vii, but there are not so many other options. Unless the studio has unexpected plans to relaunch branded games Sid Meier’s about the US Civil War, the new Civilization seems like the most appropriate option. The announcement says Firaxis is looking for someone with three years of experience in game scripting to work with the production director to create cinematic sequences to tell a story in visual language.
The position also requires a specialist who understands how to tell events within the framework of strategy games and who “seeks to find new ways of storytelling within this genre.” Another “desirable trait” is experience in directing voice acting or live performances.
Firaxis is currently producing several unannounced titles at once, preparing to be announced before the end of this year. One of them is rumored to be a licensed game. Marvel in style XCOM…
