CD Projekt announced a drop in profits and classified sales of Cyberpunk 2077

Revenue CD Projekt in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023 was the largest in the company’s history, however, net profit decreased by 64.7% and was significantly lower than analysts’ expectations and indicators of the first quarter of 2023. Reported by the agency Reuters

In the first three reporting months of the 2023 fiscal year, CD Projekt received 32.5 million zlotys of net profit ($ 8.87 million) with 197.63 million ($ 50.02 million) of revenue. Analysts had expected a net profit of PLN 80 million and a revenue of PLN 219 million.

CD Projekt explained that the low margins are mainly due to the high costs of fixing Cyberpunk 2077 and investments in new projects. The company plans to begin production on its next major project in 2023, but a lot will depend on how Cyberpunk performs on next-gen consoles. Playstation 5 and Xbox series x

CD Projekt RED usually openly shares all sorts of statistics, but this time it did not tell how much Cyberpunk 2077 sold in the first quarter, which analysts saw as a bad sign. According to some estimates, the game has practically stopped selling and has found less than 1 million buyers in the last three months. One of the main problems is the lack of a digital store PlayStation StoreSales as of December 31, 2023 – 13.7 million copies
